Perfume Hitty has a new travel case made by Michael Langton, and she wants to show it off. On the front are the words, “Hitty’s Here!” because Hitty loves to travel to new places and visit friends all over the world. With this travel case, she can feel at home wherever she goes. The hinged case opens to reveal four sections: a bedroom, a closet, a place to hold Perfume Hitty, secured with ribbons, and a dressing table with mirror. The design is very clever, and it’s perfect for traveling. The travel case has a built-in Murphy bed which can fold up when not in use. Perfume Hitty’s closet holds…

Hitty’s Daguerreotype Dress
When Rachel Field purchased Hitty in “The Antique Shop” in New York City, the doll was wearing a simple tan cotton dress printed with tiny brown sprigs. The dress is sometimes called the Daguerreotype Dress, because Hitty wore it for her Daguerreotype photo (see Hitty’s Daguerreotype Photo). If you want to make your own reproduction of the dress, click on the link below. Special thanks to my pattern testers, Alice Swann and Martha Allen. Click here to download the dress pattern and tutorial! SEWING DIAGRAMS The Daguerreotype Dress pattern combines hand and machine sewing techniques. Below are some diagrams which show the hand-sewing stitches used. The tutorial also uses snaps.…

Michael Langton Interview
MEET THE MAN WHO “CLONED” HITTY Only one real Hitty exists (see “Who is Hitty”), and she resides in the Stockbridge Library in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. But what if there was a way to make “clones” of Hitty for multiple collectors to own? I am referring to the resin Hitty dolls made by artist Michael Langton. My post called “Hitty Dimensions” featured some of his Hitty dolls, such as the Stockbridge Hitty, part of the Stockbridge Library Heirloom Collector’s Set. Stockbridge Hitty was created using a 3D laser scan of the original doll. Michael made molds from the digital data and filled those molds with “porcelite,” a wood and resin mix.…

Hitty Dimensions
The original Hitty doll, also known as “Ancestor Hitty,” is a one-of-a-kind creation. Many of us wish we could have an exact copy, and the only way to do that is with accurate measurements. Keep reading to find out how I made a comprehensive list of Ancestor Hitty’s dimensions. Download Ancestor Hitty Doll Dimensions Download Photos of Perfume Hitty Download Bill Fifer’s Hitty Photos Of all the artists who have created Hitty dolls, only woodcarver Michael Langton made exact copies. Michael Langton began carving in 1972, but his big break came in 1979, when he carved a wooden doll for the movie On Golden Pond. He discovered a way to…

Tutorial: Kitty Friend Stand
One of the best parts about Kitty Friends is that they love to be photographed. However, it can be difficult to pose them sometimes without a stand. Some Hittys also have trouble standing up by themselves. I love my Michael Langton resin Hitty, but she is very top-heavy. Fortunately, I found a simple way to adapt some inexpensive doll stands purchased at Hobby Lobby. This tutorial will give specific instructions to adapt stands for Kitty Friends and a Michael Langton resin Hitty. However, you can use the same steps with customized measurements to fit your own dolls. Materials: Small metal 2-part doll standPlastic drinking strawPiece of 1/8” wide elasticNeedle for…
